The goal of our team is "Quality, Competency, and Research."

The Department of Clinical Haematology, Haemato-Oncology & Bone Marrow (Stem Cell) Transplantation at Christian Medical College & Hospital, Ludhiana provides comprehensive, evidence-based care for both children and adults with blood disorders and blood cancers. With a legacy of clinical excellence, innovation, and compassionate patient care, our department has pioneered several landmark achievements in haematology and stem cell transplantation in Northern India.

 

Our Legacy of Excellence

  • First institution in Northern India to establish a dedicated Department of Clinical Haematology and Bone Marrow Transplantation.

  • Performed the first successful allogeneic Bone Marrow Transplant in Punjab for a patient with Philadelphia chromosome-positive Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (Ph+ ALL). 

  • Successfully performed the first Matched Unrelated Donor (MUD) Stem Cell Transplant in the region. 

  • Established one of Northern India's earliest transplant programs for Thalassemia and Primary Immunodeficiency Disorders, including Wiskott–Aldrich Syndrome.

 

Advanced Transplant & Cellular Therapy Services

  • More than 300 successful Bone Marrow (Stem Cell) Transplants completed. 

  • Active Matched Sibling, Matched Unrelated Donor (MUD), and Haploidentical Stem Cell Transplant programs. 

  • First hospital in Punjab to successfully perform an Alpha-Beta (αβ) T-Cell Depleted Haploidentical Stem Cell Transplant. 

  • Successfully introduced CAR-T Cell Therapy Infusion, offering advanced cellular immunotherapy for eligible patients with blood cancers. 

  • Dedicated 8-bedded HEPA-filtered Bone Marrow Transplant Unit providing specialized transplant care.
